Women's Big East tourney underway

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Big East quarterfinals are underway, with four games to be played today, including No. 3 seed Notre Dame.

The game between No. 5 seed Marquette and No. 4 seed Rutgers just started, with the winner moving on to the semifinals. That team will face either No. 1 seed Connecticut or No. 8 seed Georgetown, who will play at 2 p.m.

The Scarlet Knights have a deep squad that plays tenacious defense and consistently holds opponents to low scoring figures.

Connecticut is once again the favorite in the Big East tournament. However, the conference is deeper than what has been seen the past few years, and the Huskies should be challenged in each tournament game.

At 6 p.m., No. 2 seed DePaul faces No. 7 seed St. John's. The Blue Demons finished the Big East regular season with a 13-3 record, the same as the Irish, however they won the tiebreaker due to their 70-69 victory on. Feb 28. If both the Irish and Blue Demons advance to the semifinals, they would compete in one of the most highly anticipated matchups in the tournament.

Notre Dame and No. 6 seed Louisville will cap off today's action with their game tonight at 8 p.m. The game can be seen on ESPNU.
