Behind the scenes with Irish football team student managers

Before fans can "cheer, cheer for old Notre Dame," a lot of work goes on behind the scenes on the part of student football team managers.

Three senior football managers organize the overarching operation throughout the year. Senior football manager Justin Cullen said the season only lasts a few weeks in the fall, but his job is more involved.

"We work for about eight months of the year, [but] when you really think about it, it comes down to 12 football games," he said.

Throughout these eight months, the managers paint helmets, arrange equipment, assist coaches, track down late players and set up the field before play, among other tasks.
