A house inhabited by nine members of Notre Dame’s women’s lacrosse team was destroyed in a fire Friday afternoon, according to a WSBT report.
No one was injured in the blaze on the 200 block of East Marion St., just east of Memorial Hospital. The fire was out by late afternoon, the report said.
Notre Dame’s Office of Student Affairs is in the process of finding on-campus housing for the students because the house is heavily damaged. Few belongings were salvaged from the blaze.
The report said the fire’s cause is still unknown, though a friend of the tenants said a hot barbeque grill was near the house when the fire started. The outside temperature was in the 90s, sunny and humid.
