A software coding error triggered the hour-and-a-half long power outage that left the majority of Notre Dame’s campus without power Thursday night, according to University spokesman Dennis Brown. “The power outage was caused by a problem with the software code in one of the power plant’s control systems,” Brown said. “We have corrected the problem and are working with the outside contractor that maintains and updates the system to ensure that this doesn’t happen again.” The power outage lasted from around 9 p.m. to 10:33 p.m., and no injuries were reported, Brown said.
