ND in the NFL: North Carolina week

Lions wide receiver Golden Tate turned in his best performance of the season as the top receiver in Detroit’s 17-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

He totaled 134 yards and one touchdown on seven catches for an average of 19.1 yards per catch. Tate’s 9-yard touchdown reception was the Lions’ first score of the game.

Falcons linebacker Prince Shembo also had a noteworthy game during an otherwise uneventful weekend for Notre Dame alumni in the NFL. Shembo piled up 14 combined tackles, but Atlanta lost to the New York Giants, 30-20. Shembo has 31 tackles this season.

Vikings safety Robert Blanton accrued eight combined tackles in Minnesota’s 42-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers, bringing his total to 39 on the season.

Colts defensive back Sergio Brown totaled three tackles and one sack in Indianapolis’ 20-13 win against the Baltimore Ravens.

Cardinals tight end John Carlson hauled in two receptions for 19 yards in Arizona’s 41-20 loss to the Denver Broncos. Cardinals wide receiver Michael Floyd contributed one catch and seven yards. Cardinals tight end Troy Niklas left the game with a reported high ankle sprain and will have an MRI, according to CBS.com.

Chiefs tight end Anthony Fasano caught two passes for 32 yards as Kansas City lost to the San Francisco 49ers. 49ers defensive tackle Ian Williams had one tackle.

Jets cornerback Darrin Walls had two combined tackles in New York’s 31-0 loss to the San Diego Chargers.

Injury report

Lions running back Theo Riddick (hamstring) was ruled out before Detroit’s loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Chargers linebacker Manti Te’o (foot) was inactive for San Diego’s win over the Jets. Te’o fractured his foot in week three.

Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph (groin) also was inactive. His teammate, safety Harrison Smith, injured his ankle in Minnesota’s Thursday loss and was using crutches and a walking boot, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert remains on injured reserve recovering from a dislocated elbow.

Ravens defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore is recovering from surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon suffered during the pre-season.

Texans defensive tackle Louis Nix (knee) has been on injured reserve since last week.
