Sophomore Daniel Kim dies off campus

Sophomore Daniel Kim died at his off-campus residence, where he was found Friday afternoon, according to a University press release.

Kim, 21, was a student in the Mendoza College of Business and a native of Upper Saddle River, New Jersey.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of Daniel’s passing and extend our condolences to his family and friends,” University President Fr. John Jenkins said in the press release. “My prayers are with them during this difficult time.”

Kim was listed on the Notre Dame fencing team roster for 2012-2013 as a sabre specialist but was not listed for the current season or the 2013-2014 year.

A memorial service for Kim will be held at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on Monday at 9 p.m. University President Fr. John Jenkins will preside, and Director of Campus Ministry Fr. Pete McCormick, former rector of Keough Hall, will preach.

The University Counseling Center and Campus Ministry are available to offer support to students.
