Senior forward Bonzie Colson slides past a defender in Notre Dame’s 88-62 win over Mount St. Mary’s on Nov. 13 at Purcell Pavilion.

“We are all feeling for Bonzie right now, who was performing as well as any player in the country,” Irish head coach Mike Brey said in a release. “We need to embrace this challenge. This program has lost key guys before, and we figured out a way to earn an NCAA bid.”

Colson was named a preseason All-American by most media outlets, and had been playing up to that billing. The senior currently leads the Irish in scoring (21.4 points per game) and rebounds (10.4 rebounds per game). He was also an anchor for the Irish defense, leading the team in both blocks (33) and steals (28).

The senior was also one of just 21 players in Division I averaging a double-double per game this season.

Notre Dame’s final regular season ACC game is schedule for March 3.
