For the most part, I would agree with Professor Emily Phillips' comments on the Super Bowl half-time show, suggesting that the partial showing of a woman's breast is not that big of a deal.
But two contrary facts prevent agreement:
1. a breast is not "genitalia;"
2. and more importantly, Janet Jackson did not show her breast.
Rather, it was exposed by Justin Timberlake, a man who had no business taking that action, even if with her "OK." The message given is that a man can use a woman for his own purposes, with or without her approval. The next step is rape.
