With cornerback Darrin Walls departing the defensive backfield and seniors-to-be Gary Gray and Robert Blanton entering the final years of their time at Notre Dame, recruiting impact players to play defensive back was a key focus of this recruiting cycle.

Hardy should help shore up the depth chart and see the field early in his career. He is versatile enough to play cornerback or safety at the college level.

Hardy is a physical player who makes solid tackles, especially in the run game — a much-needed capability in Bob Diaco's defensive scheme. He will need to add muscle to play effectively in college but is renowned for his fluidity and quickness that allow him to play either as a free-ranging safety or a cover corner.
