Kiefer looks to maintain perfect record at DeCicco Duals

Notre Dame will return to action this weekend at the DeCicco Duals, the fourth installment of their annual home event.

Both the men’s and women’s teams for the Irish are coming off strong showings in two events over the weekend. The third-ranked Notre Dame women were 4-1 in both Saturday’s St. John’s Invitational and Sunday’s NYU Invitational. The fourth-ranked Irish men also finished 4-1 at the NYU Invitational, with a 3-2 record the day before. The weekend featured accomplished juniors Jonathan Fitzgerald and Claudia Kulmacz both reaching the milestone of 100 career victories in sabre.

For her efforts over the weekend, senior foilist Lee Kiefer was named the ACC Player of the Week. Between the two meets, Kiefer posted a record of 8-0 and is 20-0 on the season.

The DeCicco Duals will take place throughout the day Saturday and Sunday at Notre Dame’s Castellan Family Fencing Center and are set to begin at 8 a.m. both mornings. The Duals will serve as Notre Dame’s only true regular season home event of the season, though the Castellan Family Fencing Center will serve as a host site for the next weekend’s Northwestern Duals for the second year running.
