Notre Dame traveled to Princeton, New Jersey, on Saturday and came away with four second-place finishes in its races with No. 4 Princeton and Columbia.
In the varsity eight race, the Irish boat of seniors Treasa O’Tighnearnaigh, Lauren Saunee and Christine Schindele-Murayama, juniors Laura Migliore, Kelly Fischer and Jennifer Groth and sophomores Emily Stinebaugh and Julia Randall — with senior coxswain Reilly Kearney — finished roughly 19 seconds behind Princeton’s first-place boat with a time of 7:15.9.
In the second varsity eight race, the boat of seniors Stephanie Dubois, Elizabeth Gilbert, Lauren Matchett, Lauren McKee and Meredith Swartz, juniors Ashley Young and Evelyn McManus and sophomore Mara Bhalla — with sophomore coxswain Laura Schoonmaker — finished just over eight seconds behind Princeton’s first-place boat with a time of 7:05.9.
The Irish also placed second to Princeton in both varsity four races. The boat of seniors Erin Dolan and Jeanne Farnan, sophomore Caroline Hills, and freshman Katharine Johnson — with freshman coxswain Colleen Visnic — finished roughly four seconds behind with a time of 8:00.1, while the boat of juniors Katie Wiedenhoft and Gen Johanni and sophomores Audrey Regan and Allegra Sodi — with sophomore coxswain Cailey Brogan — finished six seconds behind with a time of 7:54.0 in the second varsity four race.
The next time the Irish boats will take the water will be April 14-15 in the Lake Natoma Invitational.
