Holy Cross announces no change to grading policy

Holy Cross will not be adopting a pass/fail or pass/no credit policy due to the COVID-19 pandemic, College provost Justin Watson said in an email to students Friday.

Watson said there will not be any formal changes to Holy Cross’ academic policies during this time, though “good-will, common-sense adaptations and adjustments will be needed in our academic operations in these extraordinary times.”

“There is enough flexibility within our existing policies, including the range of adaption and adjustment rightly granted to individual faculty, to serve the College’s students well and fairly when it comes to grades,” Watson said. “As you encounter difficulties, reach out to your professors, advisors and other resources of the College to provide the help you need.”

Watson said he has faith in Holy Cross students to succeed in their academic pursuits during this time.

“You are a strong and resilient group of women and men from strong and resilient families, and I know how blessed the College is that each of you chose to join this community,” Watson said.
