Saint Mary's updates parameters for mandatory COVID-19 testing

Interim vice president for student affairs Gloria Jenkins announced changes to the COVID-19 testing requirement required for students' return to campus in an email sent to Saint Mary's students Wednesday.

"Because of the surge in COVID testing in several parts of the country, testing labs are reporting longer than expected wait times for results," the email said. "Therefore, we have made some modifications to the testing requirement to assist you in obtaining the tests and results."

These modifications include the acceptance of oropharyngeal or saliva PCR tests in addition to the previously accepted nasal test. Another modification the email announced was to change the mandatory testing period to within 14 days of move-in, rather than the previously stated 10-12 days.

The email reminded the community that "all students attending in-person classes, including those living off campus, must be tested for COVID-19 prior to coming to Saint Mary’s for the fall 2020 semester."
