Notre Dame announced it would cancel all spring 2021 study abroad programs due to the continued number of coronavirus cases in a Tuesday morning email.
According to the email, the University had been in contact with partner institutions and global gateways prior to the decision. Ultimately, programs were canceled due to several factors, including the continued state of the pandemic, travel restrictions and quarantine protocols for entering and exiting the United States.
“We understand how disheartening and disappointing this is, especially for those who may not have another opportunity to study abroad,” the email said. ”...Regrettably, the ongoing pandemic makes this impossible at the moment; your health and safety must come first.”
The Study Abroad office will work closely with students to offer options to study aboard in summer or fall 2021.
“We remain committed in finding alternative opportunities for your international education,” the email said.
