The South Bend Police Department responded to shots heard in the Keller Park and Riverside Place area Saturday night, according to a Notre Dame Police Department (NDPD) spokesperson.
The area where the shots were heard is located on the opposite side of Saint Joseph River, across from the Holy Cross and Saint Mary’s campuses.
The gunshot sounds echoed off the river, making them appear closer to Holy Cross and Saint Mary’s than they actually were, the spokesperson said.
NDPD was in contact with the Holy Cross College Department of Public Safety, and the department reportedly did not issue an emergency alert since the incident did not occur on campus grounds.
