Associate dean and director of the Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine-South Bend and deputy health officer for the St. Joseph County Department of Health Dr. Mark Fox will deliver the commencement address for Holy Cross College, according to an announcement on the Holy Cross website.

Fox also serves as a professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at the IU School of Medicine-South Bend and holds appointments as an adjunct professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health at IUPUI and as a distinguished adjunct professor of theology at Notre Dame. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Fox has served as the COVID-19 response advisor to Notre Dame.

In addition to Fox, chairman and CEO of 1st Source Bank Christopher Murphy III and his wife Carmen “Carmi” Carmichael Murphy will receive honorary degrees from the College. Carmi serves on the boards of the Family and Children’s Center, Inc. and the Snite Museum of Art Advisory Council.

The 54th Commencement will take place May 22 at 2 p.m. on the Holy Cross campus. The ceremony will follow COVID-19 protocols and families will be allowed to attend upon purchase of a ticket.

“Families are invited, though tickets could be limited depending on public health guidelines,” the announcement said.
