Mark Berends named director of Notre Dame Institute for Educational Initatives

Associate vice president for research and director of the Center for Research on Educational Opportunity (CREO) Mark Berends has been appointed director of the Notre Dame Institute for Educational Initiatives, according to a Tuesday press release.
Berends, a professor of sociology, studies education reform and factors influencing student success. As director of the Institute for Educational Initiatives, his work will focus on improving education, especially for disadvantaged youth in Catholic schools.
