Jewell Loyd and Skylar Diggins-Smith, along with the rest of the USA Women’s basketball team, brought home the gold medal in a 90-75 win over Japan in the finals of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Loyd and Diggins-Smith, 2015 and 2013 graduates from Notre Dame, now play for the Seattle Storm and the Phoenix Mercury, respectively.
Stepping out for Team USA, Loyd played for 11:20 minutes in the final with 3 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist. Diggins-Smith played for 1:35.
The pair join Molly Seidel, Nick Itkin, Gerek Meinhardt, Lee Keifer and Jackie Young in bringing home medals for Team USA and representing the Irish in competition.
