Notre Dame baseball head coach Link Jarrett is leaving South Bend after taking a job at his alma mater, Florida State. He will replace Mike Martin Jr., who was fired after FSU’s second consecutive elimination the regionals this year.
In three years at Notre Dame, Jarrett led the Irish through the most successful period in program history. During his tenure, the team had a 86-32 record (.729 winning percentage). The Irish hosted a regional and made a super regional appearance in 2021. They did one better in 2022, making the program’s third-ever College World Series appearance. That run included a memorable upset over No. 1 Tennessee in this year's Knoxville Super Regional.
Jarrett is a Tallahassee native who played shortstop for the Seminoles from 1991-1994. As the Seminoles starting shortstop, Jarrett reached three College World Series (1991, 1992 and 1994). He was also a two-time All-American and holds the NCAA record for career assists with 802.
This will be Jarrett’s third head coaching job following his tenures at UNC Greensboro and Notre Dame. He was a two-time national coach of the year with the Irish. Jarrett won the 2021 D1 Baseball Coach of the Year award and the 2022 NCBWA Mike Martin Coach of the Year Award at Notre Dame.

Their accomplishments on and off the field are something I will cherish for the rest of my life. Jarrett will be formally introduced at Florida State on Monday. The departure now tasks athletic director Jack Swarbrick with finding a new head coach who can sustain Notre Dame’s recent baseball success as a large part of the veteran Irish core graduates.
