Former All-American Mike Fanning dies at 69

Former Notre Dame All-American defensive tackle Mike Fanning died Sunday at the age of 69, according to the New York Post. His cause of death was not revealed.
Fanning was a member of the championship-winning 1973 Notre Dame football team and went on to play 10 seasons in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams, Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks.
In 1974, Fanning was selected in the first round of the NFL draft by the Rams after he was named a second-team All-American. During the 1975 season he was named to the All-Rookie team.
Fanning had worked in the athletic department at the University of Tulsa since 2009. He is survived by his son and two daughters, according to the Post.
