Chris Terek signs with Irish, makes Wisconsin flip official

| Wednesday, December 21, 2022

One of the latest commits in the 2023 class, offensive lineman Chris Terek made his flip official — the former Wisconsin commit signed his national letter of intent to join the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Wednesday.

The Irish were an extremely late player in Terek’s recruitment. The Glen Ellyn, Illinois product visited Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and Iowa over the summer. He committed to Wisconsin in June and didn’t set foot in South Bend until October 2022. The week after Terek’s visit, Notre Dame made an offer to the four-star offensive lineman. On Nov. 27, Terek flipped from his Wisconsin commitment, verbally committing to Marcus Freeman and the Irish.

Terek is the 12th-ranked offensive tackle in the class according to Rivals, receiving a 5.8 grade. Rivals gives grades of 5.8-6.0 to ‘All-American candidate,s’ with a 5.8 putting prospects on the edge of the Top 300 prospects overall. Terek is ranked 227th nationally. Standing 6-foot-6, Terek entered his senior year of high school at 310 pounds and dropped about 15 pounds, playing the season at 295. That has scouts excited about his potential to add more muscle back to his frame, projecting Terek as a Power-5 starter at guard.

Terek is the 227th-ranked prospect overall, making him the second-highest-ranked offensive lineman in the Irish’s recruiting class. He’s second to a fellow Illinois product, Charles Jagusah. The Irish bring in five offensive linemen total, as Terek joins Jagusah, Sam Pendleton, Sullivan Absher and Joe Otting. They’ll join a crowded offensive line room at Notre Dame. The Irish likely need to replace two starters, both at guard. They can likely fill their two-deep without dipping into this year’s recruiting class. Terek and company will be faced with a likely redshirt or limited to special teams contributions in 2023.
