An adult male residing in St. Joseph County has tested positive for COVID-19, the South Bend Tribune reported Wednesday.
The infected individual, who is in his 50s, has been quarantined to his home and does not fall into any risk category according to health officials.
Fifty to 60 local residents have been tested since Monday after the new availability of commercially produced tests.
Deputy St. Joseph County Health Officer Mark Fox said in the article that they have been expecting positive cases locally for weeks.
“We fully anticipate we’ll have additional cases identified in the coming days,” Fox said.
So far, there have been 11 positive COVID-19 cases in Indiana, including this St. Joseph County case.
