Saint Mary’s to roll out new 24/7 telehealth network

Interim vice president of student affairs Gloria Roldán Jenkins announced the College’s new student telehealth network, SMC Care, is available with a variety of services, in an email to students Thursday.

Jenkins explained the service will be free to all Saint Mary's undergraduate students as well as graduate assistants.

According to Jenkins, health care providers are available around the clock to provide non-emergency medical care.

“Whether you’re feeling sick or overwhelmed, you will be able to talk to a licensed provider from your smartphone or any web-enabled device day or night,” she said. “Licensed providers are available to diagnose non-emergency medical conditions, prescribe medications and offer mental health support and wellness coaching via phone or secure video visits.”

The site will also be available to diagnose COVID-19 symptoms.

“The service will virtually assess symptoms and administer frontline care in a contained environment to limit the spread of illness,” Jenkins said. “Medical providers will also give recommendations on need for testing vs. self-quarantine, and where to go if testing or further care is needed.”

Jenkins invited students to attend an informational session over Zoom Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. to learn more.
