As we round the corner on week four of the spring semester, there’s no doubt that we’re feeling stressed from tests, assignments and everything in between. But don’t fear! There are plenty of ways to de-stress while enjoying the great outdoors (and the last few weeks of winter snow).

Howard Park in downtown South Bend has utilized their amazing space to create fun activities that people of all ages to enjoy. I’ve taken the time to put together a list of fun, relaxing activities for you and your crew to enjoy.

1. $5 Skate Night

This event, hosted every Tuesday and Wednesday night, is probably the most college student-friendly of the bunch, seeing as it only costs $5 and provides plenty of photo opportunities for your Instagram or VSCO. Make sure you get your tickets in advance because thanks to COVID, space is limited. The next skate night is February 23, so hurry and get your tickets today!

2. Yoga on Ice

Turn down the heat on March 6. From 10 to 11 a.m., Howard Park is hosting yoga on ice! This fun twist on hot yoga is sure to make your muscles shake. Don't forget to bring your own mat and beach towel to secure your mat on the ice. This is a fantastic way to relieve some stress — plus, it's FREE!

3. Broomball

Ever played hockey without skates? Well, February 24 at 5 p.m. is your chance to hone your skills and hit mini soccer balls with brooms. It may sound kind of crazy, but you’re guaranteed to have the time of your life and to make some fun memories— not to mention that this activity, like the others, is bank account friendly, with an affordable $5 admission fee.

4. Drumming + Yoga

Freezing cold yoga isn’t for you? Don’t worry, Howard Park has you covered! Join yoga instructors every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. for a relaxing (and free) yoga session indoors accompanies by the soundtrack of rhythmic drumming.

5. Cross Country Skiing

Last but not least, you can learn how to cross country ski February 26 from 2 to 4 p.m. During this session, you will discover the basics of skiing cross country, and then you'll be set loose on the trails. Ski rentals and lessons are both included in the $10 fee.

Whether you’re looking for a relaxing activity or fun winter activity to get the blood pumping, Howard Park surely has something for you! Make sure you take some time for yourself during the semester: it's important! Click here to reserve your spot!
