Two reportedly injured in shooting south of campus

Two people were injured in a shooting south of campus Tuesday evening, the Notre Dame Police Department (NDPD) announced in an email to the University community.

The incident reportedly took place near the intersection of N. Frances Street and Campeau Street, NDPD said. The South Bend Police Department (SBPD) responded to the incident at around 6:50 p.m. and the subject reportedly fled eastbound, according to the email.

The NDPD said in the email that the department was not aware of a connection between the incident and the Notre Dame community. They also urged anyone with information regarding the incident to report it to the SBPD.

“The Notre Dame Police Department has been in contact with our partners in South Bend about this incident, and we will continue to work together for the safety of our communities,” the email said.

NDPD also advised individuals to leave areas where there is a fight or disturbance, seek shelter and, if possible, call 911.
