Fr. Gerard Olinger named vice president for student affairs

University President Fr. John Jenkins has named Fr. Gerard Olinger vice president for student affairs, according to a Monday morning press release. Olinger, who currently serves as vice president for mission engagement and Church affairs, will begin his new role June 1.

Olinger replaces Erin Hoffmann Harding, who recently announced she would step down from the role at the end of May to return to her career in management consulting. As vice president for student affairs, Olinger will oversee departments concerning residential life, student development, career and professional development, Campus Ministry and health and well-being.

“I look forward to serving all of our students in the context of a vibrant, inclusive community, leading an extraordinary team of student affairs colleagues and being a partner with many across the University who make Notre Dame a great place to live and learn,” Olinger said in the press release.

Olinger, a 2001 Notre Dame graduate, previously served as vice president of student affairs at the University of Portland before returning to Notre Dame.

“We are fortunate to have in Father Olinger a seasoned administrator, a dedicated priest and a dynamic leader,” Jenkins said.
