Class of 2020 commencement to be held over 2022 Memorial Day weekend

University President Fr. John Jenkins announced in an email Friday that the commencement celebration for the Notre Dame class of 2020 will take place over Memorial Day weekend in 2022, from May 27-30.

The announcement comes after the ceremony was postponed in 2020 and then in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the help of student feedback, Jenkins confirmed, the celebration will consist of a commencement ceremony for all 2020 undergraduates, graduates and professional graduates in the Notre Dame Stadium on May 29, of a commencement Mass at a date yet to be determined and of traditions such as Domerfest 2.0, a commencement ball and a last visit to the Grotto.

Graduates are expected to receive as many tickets as they would like for the general commencement ceremony. More information about college-specific ceremonies will be shared with graduates at a later date, according to the email.

Additionally, Jenkins said the University has reserved 1,000 tickets for the class of 2020 to attend the Notre Dame-Cincinnati football game Oct. 2. The stadium will return to operating in full capacity beginning this fall.
