The Notre Dame Police Department (NDPD) informed the Notre Dame community of a fatal shooting that occurred north of campus early Thursday morning. The initial report came from the St. Joseph County Police.
According to an email to the Notre Dame community, the shooting took place inside Cheers Pub in Roseland, at around 1:20 a.m. The suspect, described as a man with dreadlocks wearing red, reportedly fled the scene in a white SUV.
While the email did not indicate whether any students were involved, it said NDPD has reason to believe “a number of students” were inside the bar at the time of the shooting.
“For any students who witnessed this incident and are understandably upset, the University has well-established support resources available through the University Counseling Center,” the email said. The UCC’s website can be found here.
The alert also encouraged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the St. Joseph County Police department at 574-235-9569.
