Noodles & Company debuts new location on Eddy Street

Pastas, salads, dumplings and more are now available at the new Noodles & Company on North Eddy Street. The casual noodle chain opened its doors this month and is now open for business.

Assistant general manager Joey Marsala said he is seeing some strong indicators for potential long-term success in the area during the early days of business.

“We’ve been ramping up sales everyday, it's kind of been increasing,” Marsala said. “Overall, pretty good for a new restaurant.”

Marsala has been with the Noodles & Company chain for about eight years, and he said throughout his time with the company he has noticed that the restaurant works hard to maintain its professed values and standards at all its locations.

“We always try to have the family-oriented culture and that next level atmosphere inside of our restaurants, and I feel like at the Notre Dame location we’ve been able to project that into this location from other locations,” he said.

One student was impressed with the familial atmosphere she witnessed upon visiting the Eddy Street location for the first time.

“The staff here was actually more helpful than other locations I’ve been to,” said Catherine Olivia, a Notre Dame student in the graduate program at the School of Architecture.

The staff was also recognized by Sam Usle, another Notre Dame student in the graduate program at the School of Architecture, who said they made his experience at the restaurant enjoyable.

“The staff is very very helpful,“ Usle said. “They’re interactive, very welcoming, smiling, very genuine, seemed genuinely happy and enjoying their job.”

The welcoming culture and atmosphere also attempts to be inclusive of those with dietary restrictions, Marsala said. He said no matter the dietary limitations one may have, Noodles & Company will try to accommodate their needs.

“We do recognize a lot of different allergies and dietary restrictions, and our menu does fulfill pretty much that for everybody,” said Marsala.

Noodles & Company attempts to have affordable prices, so students on a budget can purchase quality meals. Some students who have already visited the Eddy Street location said they would recommended it to a friend.

Usle said the best part of Noodles & Company's arrival to the Eddy Street Commons is that it serves as a healthier dining option close to campus. Olivia shared a similar sentiment, as she said the fast casual noodle restaurant brings more variety to the area.

“I think it’s just more variety, especially on Eddy Street here,” said Olivia.

Emily Becker, a Notre Dame engineering student, said she enjoyed the opportunity to travel off campus and try the new restaurant.

For those looking to venture to Noodles & Company for the first time, Marsala said his meal of choice is the Wisconsin mac and cheese, referring to the dish as "world famous." Becker echoed Marsala's remark, as she said the mac and cheese was her favorite meal at Noodles & Company.

Now that the chain has made its way to Eddy Street, Marsala said it hopes to make its mark in the community, adding that Noodles & Company considers itself to be more than just a place to get food and would like to get involved in the local area.

“We love doing fundraisers and really doing anything we can to help the community as well,” Marsala said.

Marsala said the new location had been in the works for a long time, and now that it has finally come to fruition, Noodles & Company is looking forward to making the most of the opportunity.

“We’re excited to be at Notre Dame,“ he said. “I know the company has been trying to get over here for years and we’re just really excited to be here.”
