Notre Dame, Holy Cross offer update on housing for future Gateway students

Beginning with the Gateway 10.0 cohort, all Gateway students will be guaranteed on-campus housing upon their transfer to Notre Dame sophomore year, given the cohort does not exceed 75 students, Gateway program coordinator Aurelia Wishart said in a Friday email to current Gateway first-years.

The 10.0 cohort refers to students who will arrive as first-years in fall 2022.

The email served as a guide for current Gateway first-years on how to respond when answering questions from prospective Gateway students. In the fall, The Observer reported on the frustrations of members of the 9.0 cohort — part of the Notre Dame class of 2025 — after they were told there would not be guaranteed housing for them during the 2022-2023 academic year.

Wishart shared the official statement from Notre Dame’s Office of Residential Life: “Once officially admitted to Notre Dame, Gateway students (not exceeding 75) will be assigned to on-campus housing during the summer preceding their fall enrollment by Notre Dame’s Office of Residential Life.”

Wishart encouraged any member of the 9.0 cohort to speak with her if the news is “challenging.”
