Man charged with battery following incident at Brothers Bar and Grill

A South Bend man was charged with battery Monday after an incident at Brothers Bar and Grill early Sunday morning, according to the South Bend Tribune

Danzell Pinkerton, 25, hit a fellow patron in the neck with a glass bottle in the restroom because he thought the man was using gang signs, the article said. Prosecutors claim the man was recording a video in the restroom and waving his hands around. Pinkerton told the man to be careful with his hand signals, but the man denied he was making gang signs, according to the Tribune.

Pinkerton swung a beer bottle at the man’s neck, leaving a deep cut that required treatment at the hospital, the article said. According to the article, Pinkerton left the bar when police officers arrived at the scene and headed north before eventually running through the Eddy Street parking garage and getting arrested.

Pinkerton was charged with felony battery with a deadly weapon and resisting law enforcement. Another man ran from the police with Pinkerton and was arrested, the article said. He was also charged with resisting law enforcement.
