A new men’s residence hall is currently under construction, the University announced Tuesday in a press release. The new dorm will be located on East Quad between Johnson Family Hall and McCourtney Hall, where construction is also underway for a new research building.
The new dorm is part of a 2017 plan to strengthen campus residential communities, which included increasing the on-campus residency requirement to six semesters, according to the release.
The release said the four-story, 79,000-square-foot dorm will house approximately 260 students and adhere to Notre Dame’s collegiate gothic architecture style. The building, not yet officially named, will offer a variety of room types including singles, doubles, quads and six-person rooms.
Set to open in the summer of 2024, the residence hall will feature an arched opening on the first floor that allows pedestrians to travel east-west via an existing sidewalk.
