Saint Mary's hires Liz Baumann as full-time Title IX officer

In a Wednesday email to the Saint Mary's community, President Katie Conboy announced the hiring of Liz Baumann as the College's first full-time Title IX officer.

According to the message, the President's Office brought an external Title IX expert to campus last fall to review Saint Mary's sexual violence resources, education and responses. The expert recommended that the College hire a full-time Title IX officer.

An internal hire, Baumann was previously a coordinator for the Belles Against Violence Office (BAVO) and most recently, she was the director of student involvement and advocacy. For the last two years, Baumann also planned the Raise Your Voice symposium, which is held each April at Saint Mary's College.

"Her extensive knowledge of SMC, our students’ needs, and the tri-campus community will help us move quickly to advance our Title IX work on campus," Conboy wrote about Baumann.

In the same email, the President's Office announced Shannon Warfield will serve as the new BAVO coordinator.

Warfield brings 10 years of experience in the field of survivor advocacy, having previously worked as a victim's advocate at the Office of the Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney, according to Conboy.
