The Saint Mary's volleyball team went to 4-1 on the season after a victory against Benedictine

The Saint Mary’s volleyball team took home a 3-0 win in their home opener against the Benedictine University Eagles.

It was a close first set with the two teams going back and forth, but the Belles were able to come out on top, winning 25-21. During the first set, freshman hitter Kalli Lewkowski led the team on the court with three kills. Alongside her, senior outside hitter Cali Allen added four digs and two kills to help secure the win.

The second set looked very similar to the first, finishing 25-21 in favor of the Belles. While the Eagles totaled seven more kills in the second set, the Belles took advantage of their eleven errors throughout the second set. Lewkowski led the way again, adding three more kills to her total, and junior hitter Delaney Martin also added four digs to help the Belles to a 2-0 lead.

The Belles kept their momentum going, sweeping the final set 25-13. Lewkowski finished the day with a total of nine kills, tied for a team-high with sophomore hitter Caroline Carens. Sophomore defensive specialist Karli Fegan finished with a team-high 12 digs and Allen finished with 11.
