Saint Mary's volleyball finishes their season with a win

Belles finish the year 10-13 on the season

In their last game of the season, the Belles took a 3-0 win over Olivet University this past weekend.

Olivet scored first in the first set and went on a 9-4 run over the Belles. Saint Mary’s got right back in it with a 10-2 run of their own, thanks to multiple kills by senior outside hitter Cali Allen and a kill contributed by freshman setter Giuliana Graczyk to make the score 14-11. Allen continued to show that kills were the key as she added on a few more alongside freshman outside hitter and middle hitter Kalli Lewkowski, driving the score to 24-17. Sophomore setter Abby Reese gained the last point needed for the Belles with a kill to make the final score 25-18.

The start of the second set was intense as the two teams went back and forth tying the score five different times. Kills from Lewkowski, junior middle hitter Patricia Settlemier and sophomore Caroline Carens helped the Belles go on a 9-3 run to make the score 18-13. Olivet went on a 4-0 run of their own but the Belles closed the match out with a 6-4 run to make the final score 25-21.

In the third set, Olivet started off strong as the team put up the first two points but Saint Mary’s responded with a kill from Lewkowski. Junior outside and middle hitter Delaney Martin also helped the Belles tie up the score. The two teams continued to battle it out until Saint Mary’s went on an 8-2 run to make the score 18-10. Multiple kills from Martin, Carens and Allen kept the Belles ahead as they finished the final match 25-18 over Olivet and took the 3-0 win.

Reese led on the court as she finished with 18 kills. Graczyk and Allen both finished with 13, Martin with nine and Lewkowski finished with six. Junior defensive specialist Karli Fegan led the match with 20 digs and Martin finished with 10 digs.

With this win, the Belles finished their season 10-13 overall and 2-6 in the MIAA.
