Saint Mary’s tennis continues their win streak against Anderson and Saint Francis

Belles look ahead to Spring Arbor Friday

The Saint Mary’s Tennis team continued to dominate on the court as they finished 7-0 with wins over Anderson and St. Francis.

Anderson

In the doubles competition, the Belles did not hold back. The first round of doubles included senior Alayna Campbell and junior Emma Kealy, who took the 6-1 win over their opponents Ella Frantz and Abby Cunningham. On the second court, freshman Shannon Dudy and sophomore Sophia Pischalko took a 6-1 win over their opponents Morgan Nation and Ella Maiden. In the final round of doubles, junior Hannah Gerner and freshman Odessa Norton also defeated their opponents, Kate Oberle and Jenna Jenkins, 6-1. 

In the singles competition, Kealy competed in the first round against Frantz. Kealy won both sets, winning the first one 6-0 and the second one 6-4. In the second round, Campbell finished the first set 4-1 before Nation retired and Campbell took the win. Sophomore Anna Gardner represented Saint Mary’s in the third round as she faced Cunningham and took another win. Gardner had two wins, winning both sets 6-0. 

Dudy faced off against Maiden in the fourth round, getting two victories, 6-1 on each set. Pischalko defeated Oberle, winning the first set 6-1 and the second set 6-0. Freshman Lanie Brant faced Paula Torrent from Anderson and took a win. She won the first set 6-3 and the second 6-0. 

St. Francis

In the first round of doubles, Campbell and Kealy faced off against their opponents Lauren Korte and Ellen Reidy from St. Francis, earning a 6-2 win. In the second round, Dudy and Pischalko faced Emma Dellinger and Victoria Rodenbeck and won 6-1. In the final round of doubles, a forfeit from St. Francis gave Gardener and Brant an easy win. 

Starting the singles competition, Campbell faced off against Reidy and won the first set 6-0 and the second set 6-1. Across the court, Kealy faced Lauren Korte and took the win as she won the first set 6-1 and the second set 6-0. Dudy and Rodenback were the third match and Dudy came out on top. 

Brant took on the fourth match against Dellinger, getting two 6-0 wins. Gerner took the win in the fifth match taking the first set 6-0 and the second set 6-1. A forfeit from Saint Francis in the final match gave Saint Mary’s the 7-0 win. 

The Belles now look ahead to Friday where they will face Spring Arbor starting at 12:30 p.m.
