Last Friday, the Belles tennis team faced off against Goshen but took the extremely close 4-3 loss.
Doubles
In the first doubles match, senior Alayna Campbell and her partner junior Emma Kealy faced opponents Blanka Bodo and Sara Nino but lost 6-1. In the second match, freshman Shannon Dudy and sophomore Sophia Pischalko faced Uliana Dotsenko and Ariadna Odin and only fared slightly better, losing 6-2. In the final doubles match, sophomore Anna Gardener and her partner freshman Lanie Brant took the first 6-0 win for the Belles against Morgan Priebe and Arianngel Mosquera.
Singles
In the first round of singles, Campbell faced Bodo but took the loss. Bodo won the first set 6-2 and the second set 6-1. In the second singles matchup, Kealy faced Dotsenko also struggled to get on the board, losing the first set 6-0 and the second set 6-2. In the third match, Gardener faced off against Sara Nino but lost the first set 6-2 and the second set 7-5.
Dudy got the first win for the Belles in the fourth singles match, getting a 6-2 win in the first set and a 6-0 win in the second set. Pischalko took the second win for the Belles in the fifth singles match over Priebe winning in the first set 6-1 and the second set 6-1. Brant competed in the sixth match taking the first set 6-1 and the second set 6-1. Despite these wins, Goshen walked away with the 4-3 win.
The Belles will now prepare to face Indiana University Kokomo on Feb. 28 starting at 1:30 p.m.
