Notre Dame women's golf take sixth place in Maryland

Freshman Faustine Errecade led the Irish taking 15th overall

Over the weekend, the Notre Dame women’s golf team concluded its regular season finishing sixth-overall at the Maryland Terrapin Invitational. The team finished behind Michigan who carded 877 to take first place, High Point who finished with a score of 884 to secure second, Georgetown who ended at 885 for third place, Maryland who finished with a stroke tally of 886 for fourth and Delaware who carded 890 to take fifth place. 

Faustine Errecade led the Irish with an overall score of 220 (+4) throughout the tournament. The freshman pulled ahead early in the competition carding 71 (-1) to finish the first round and followed with a second round of 73 (+1). On the final day of the competition, Errecade concluded the tournament with a score of 76 (+4) to put her in 15th place overall. 

Senior Maya Hunter also had a strong tournament for the Irish tying with Errecade early on during day one with a score of 71 (-1). Hunter went on later in the day to card a 78 (+6) but rallied back on day two with a score of 75 (+3) to move up nine spots on the leaderboard and tie for 25th with an overall score of 224 (+8). Freshman, Bridget Wilkie also made top 25 for the Irish as she also finished with an overall of 224 (+8) to tie Hunter. Wilkie started Sunday off with a score of 75 (+3) before gaining a team low of 70 (-2). Wilkie finished round three on Monday carding a 79 (+7). 

Placing in the top-50, senior Montgomery Ferreira finished in 40th place for the Irish. Ferreira recorded her tournament best in round one carding 73 (+1) and finished round two with a score of 75 (+3). In round three, Ferreira’s final score was 81 (+9). 

Rounding out the lineup was sophomore Alexsandra Lapple who finished with a final score of 230 (+14). The sophomore recorded the same 77 (+5) score across all three rounds to secure 51st place overall. 

Up next, the team will take a week off before turning to the ACC Championship. The tournament will be held in Greensboro, North Carolina spanning from April 16 - 19. From there, the Irish will head to the NCAA Regionals and finally the NCAA Championship in California.
