An evening with KennyHoopla

Gracie Simoncic | Monday, February 7, 2022

Performing to an intimate crowd at Legends, SUB recently hosted KennyHoopla, American singer, songwriter and musician. While some artists would’ve shied away from the half-full venue, Hoopla took it into stride. Kenny’s sound is a blend of rock, alternative and indie. ‘Hype House’: A hate-watch

Gracie Simoncic | Friday, January 28, 2022

Hype House is a reality TV show that follows some of the highest-paid Tiktok creators as they navigate the internet and personal relationships in a ridiculously huge mansion. I believe the purpose of this show

Looking through the pensive: Reflections on the Harry Potter 20th anniversary special

Gracie Simoncic | Thursday, January 20, 2022

This special begins with nostalgic shots of the actors in classic London settings — Emma Watson perusing a cozy, old book store and Matthew Lewis riding down Bond Street in a sleek black hackney carriage. The actors unsuspectingly find their own Hogwarts letters inviting them to the reunion next to their cup of Earl Grey,

Wes Anderson’s new film: ‘The French Dispatch’

Gracie Simoncic | Friday, October 29, 2021

I love Wes Anderson. I’ve seen most of his films multiple times and I have a hardcover copy of the coffee table classic, “Accidentally Wes Anderson,” proudly displayed in my room. I dream of being as mysteriously moody as Margot Tenenbaum, impressively cool as Fantastic Mr. Fox and recklessly in love as Suzie Bishop. TL;DR,

‘Promising Young Woman’ shows at DPAC

Gracie Simoncic | Tuesday, September 21, 2021

TW: Rape, Suicide and Trauma “Promising Young Woman” starts important conversations about how we discuss rape and modern feminism through a genre-bending film. Played by Carey Mulligan, Cassie’s characterized by her irreverent humor and inability to let go of the rape and death of her best friend, Nina. She’s a 30-year-old med school drop-out that

This Thursday, Feb. 16, the 93rd annual Bengal Bou This Thursday, Feb. 16, the 93rd annual Bengal Bouts will begin its preliminary rounds. A men’s boxing tournament that benefits the Holy Cross Mission in Bangladesh, Bengal Bouts seems to perfectly combine two integral aspects of Notre Dame’s identity: a passion for sports and a commitment to social impact.

This week, From the Archives takes a long overdue look at the history of Bengal Bouts. While this tournament predates the Observer by nearly four decades, we uncovered a selection of stories that capture at least a part of the rich history of this Notre Dame tradition.

We asked you to Ask The Observer Sports Department We asked you to Ask The Observer Sports Department and you responded with the request: “Northwestern @ Notre Dame 2014 Football Breakdown”. That game was a heartbreaking loss for a Notre Dame team that had started 6-0 before stumbling down the stretch to a 7-5 record. A bowl game win over LSU salvaged some optimism for the program’s future, but that loss to Northwestern was a shocking result that contributed to one of the more appalling stretches of Irish football in the Brian Kelly era.
