Jacob Neisewander | Monday, August 17, 2020

A Notre Dame flag adorned with the state of Arizona’s colors hangs in sophomore Vincenzo Torsiello’s Stanford dorm room. Besides a single electric guitar and a mini-controller synthesizer, the room is decidedly short on instruments. Back home in Phoenix, Torsiello boasts a much more impressive setup: a full drum set, several microphones, an acoustic piano,

“Uncut Gems” was directed by Josh and Benny Safdie and stars Adam Sandler as Howard Raton, an eccentric and out-of-control New York jeweler who thrives on high-stake gambling bets and the euphoria of winning big. ‘It Chapter Two’ is a treat for fans of first chapter

Jacob Neisewander | Thursday, September 12, 2019

In September 2017, New Line Cinema’s adaption of Stephen King’s “It” became the highest grossing horror film of all time. Two years later, the second half of King’s saga comes to the big screen and the result is … complicated. As a continuation of the 2017 film, “It Chapter Two” succeeds as a gripping finale

‘Midsommar’ and the phantom genre of elevated horror

Jacob Neisewander | Tuesday, September 10, 2019

If you asked a film buff to explain the meaning of the term “elevated horror,” they would probably start off by listing a smattering of critically acclaimed horror films from the last decade. Movies like “The Babadook” and “It Follows” are elevated horror. “Get Out” and “Us” are certainly elevated horror. What about the “The

We asked you to Ask The Observer Sports Department We asked you to Ask The Observer Sports Department and you responded with the request: “Northwestern @ Notre Dame 2014 Football Breakdown”. That game was a heartbreaking loss for a Notre Dame team that had started 6-0 before stumbling down the stretch to a 7-5 record. A bowl game win over LSU salvaged some optimism for the program’s future, but that loss to Northwestern was a shocking result that contributed to one of the more appalling stretches of Irish football in the Brian Kelly era.
