Padanilam: LaVar Ball does not deserve his platform

Benjamin Padanilam | Tuesday, August 22, 2017

At first, it was funny. Or at least it was supposed to be. One man offering outlandish quotes as if he was giving out candy on Halloween and predictions so bold that reporters couldn’t help but put a microphone in front of him. But now, it’s no longer funny. It’s no longer appropriate. And it’s

O’Boyle: LaVar Ball might not be so crazy after all

Daniel O'Boyle | Tuesday, May 2, 2017

“Name one genius that ain’t crazy.” Feedback, the fifth track on Kanye West’s 2016 album “The Life of Pablo” is admittedly not one of Kanye’s best tracks, found in an album that — despite so many moments of brilliance — doesn’t get the genius/crazy balance quite as right as the Chicago rapper’s other works. But that

Time to embrace branding

Brett O'Connell | Thursday, November 19, 2015

There’s a baffling irony to the outrage that always manages to show up whenever a discussion of advertisement on American sports jerseys is initiated by leagues and teams across the country. The NHL is the most recent potential perpetrator of what seems to be — according to the reactions of hockey fans both rabid and casual

Worst Thing Ever: Yeezy Sneakers

Jimmy Kemper | Thursday, February 12, 2015

Modern pop culture is an interesting phenomenon. It’s an obsession for me. Between Facebook, Twitter, reddit, MySpace, AIM and whatever other outdated technology I’m hooked to, I’m constantly searching for any update I can get on the celebrity trends that make up the 24-hour news cycle. Sometimes, if I’m lucky, my editor lets me write

Pharrell’s Phashion

Daniel Barabasi | Thursday, April 3, 2014

You might know him for his hit collaborations, but soon Pharrell Williams will have the world staying up all night for another reason: fashion, or more notably, his upcoming Adidas collection. With the recent onslaught of normcore, Pharrell’s acceptance into the heavy hitters of the fashion community offers a necessary relief. His personal style is,

Each day our student journalists, editors, reporters, photographers and designers work hard to report on the things you care about. From tri-campus events to movie reviews, letters to the editor and sports predictions, we give a platform to numerous voices waiting to be heard.

Even throughout the pandemic, our staff has continued publishing articles, letters, columns, reviews and sharing our content with you on social media.

Just recently The Observer won first place in online publication of the year at the Indiana Collegiate Press Association Awards, proving that our hard work and dedication pays off.

As a student-run organization, we juggle the same responsibilities as our peers, while remaining committed to informing the public out of our love for the tri-campus community. This ND Day, we hope that you would consider making a donation to support our student journalists.

Irish head coach Mike Johnson said, “I give our kids credit. I thought we competed hard … It’s not how we wanted it to end of course, but I can’t say enough about our players, about the people that they are, about the sacrifices they’ve made. I just have the greatest love and appreciation for them.”
