Colin Capece | Friday, May 17, 2019

After back to back Frozen Four appearances in 2017 and 2018 — including a run to the national championship game last season — Notre Dame certainly appeared to be a contender in the Big Ten once again entering this season. Jack Concannon | Monday, April 1, 2019

Charlie Ortega Guifarro | Monday, March 18, 2019

Fifty-three seconds. For 53 seconds, a shallow fear filled Compton Family Ice Arena as the home team was just one goal away from advancing to the Big Ten final or one goal from virtually the end of their season. For 53 seconds, there was panic. For 53 seconds, there was doubt. But after 53 seconds

Charlie Ortega Guifarro and Dominic Gibson | Monday, March 4, 2019

Notre Dame finished its regular season this past weekend after splitting games with Penn State in a 5-4 overtime victory Friday and a 3-2 defeat Saturday. Friday night’s hockey action provided plenty of scoring. From the start of the first frame, both the Irish (18-13-3, 11-11-2 Big Ten) and Nittany Lions (19-13-2, 11-12-1 Big Ten)

This Thursday, Feb. 16, the 93rd annual Bengal Bou This Thursday, Feb. 16, the 93rd annual Bengal Bouts will begin its preliminary rounds. A men’s boxing tournament that benefits the Holy Cross Mission in Bangladesh, Bengal Bouts seems to perfectly combine two integral aspects of Notre Dame’s identity: a passion for sports and a commitment to social impact.

This week, From the Archives takes a long overdue look at the history of Bengal Bouts. While this tournament predates the Observer by nearly four decades, we uncovered a selection of stories that capture at least a part of the rich history of this Notre Dame tradition.
