Mike Donovan | Tuesday, March 5, 2019

This opening confession features a colon, a piece of punctuation louder than any exclamation point: Clarity scares me s—less. Why does clarity scare me s—less? I think it has something to do with intellectual insecurity — a general, chronic fear that I have nothing good to say. This fear prevents me from writing what I

Bond with dad over Ty Segall’s ‘Freedom’s Goblin’

Mike Donovan | Wednesday, January 24, 2018

Keep “Freedom’s Goblin” away from your dad. One listen could surrender his heart to the iron grip of Ty Segall, leaving you, your siblings and your mother stranded on familiar streets, paved in contemporary musical sensibilities. The record transcends “Hey, that sounds like that Beatles record your mom and I used to like,” entering “Oh

Jimmy Kemper | Tuesday, October 6, 2015

For the first time in almost a decade, Will Smith has dropped a new rap single. Dad Kanye isn’t new Kanye

Allie Tollaksen | Thursday, January 29, 2015

Kanye West is a genius. That’s why the rapper/artist/mogul premiered his new music video for the song “Only One” on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” yesterday. The video, directed by Spike Jonze and co-starring daughter North West, is an adorable accompaniment to Kanye’s collaboration with Paul McCartney. What’s more, Kanye’s accompanying interview with Ellen showed the

Joseph R. Biden has become the second Catholic President in United States history, but his position on abortion is “one that cannot be condoned” according to Rev. Robert Dowd.

“Other bishops think that, because he’s a conscientious Catholic whose faith is obviously important to him, we should strike a more positive tone, particularly at the outset of his presidency. After all, in many ways Biden’s positions are more in line with Catholic teaching than Trump’s, particularly when it comes to migrants, refugees, climate issues, poverty and inequality,” Dowd continued.
