Carson: Tournament success proves Notre Dame is in a ‘golden age’

Alex Carson | Wednesday, March 30, 2016

PHILADELPHIA — What in the world happened to Notre Dame’s men’s basketball program? The formula was pretty simple for the Irish: Have a good regular season, earn a solid seed, then get to March and forget how to win. You could look at 2007 and 2010, where the Irish failed to get out of the first round

Digger Phelps on Fr. Hesburgh

Letter to the Editor | Sunday, March 1, 2015

To me, Fr. Hesburgh was a living saint. What he’s done his whole life of being a priest is no different than what Mother Teresa did in her life as a nun. To me, he’s the godfather of the Civil Rights Act. What he’s done with personalities and how he can just motivate you to

Notre Dame slips past Hokies

Matthew DeFranks | Sunday, January 19, 2014

History was celebrated Sunday night, but it also was almost repeated. Irish aim to break losing streak

Mike Monaco | Friday, January 17, 2014

Mired in a three-game losing skid, Notre Dame looks for its first win in more than two weeks when it hosts Virginia Tech on Sunday night at Purcell Pavilion.   Little has gone right for the Irish (10-7, 1-3 ACC) since their 79-77 upset of then-No.7 Duke on Jan. 4. They lost at home to

Joseph R. Biden has become the second Catholic President in United States history, but his position on abortion is “one that cannot be condoned” according to Rev. Robert Dowd.

“Other bishops think that, because he’s a conscientious Catholic whose faith is obviously important to him, we should strike a more positive tone, particularly at the outset of his presidency. After all, in many ways Biden’s positions are more in line with Catholic teaching than Trump’s, particularly when it comes to migrants, refugees, climate issues, poverty and inequality,” Dowd continued.
