Chick-fil-“Nay”

Letter to the Editor | Thursday, February 22, 2018

I have some sad news for you, ND. Chick-fil-A is not coming to Notre Dame and probably won’t be for the foreseeable future. The sentiment is clear: Students at this university want a Chick-fil-A on campus. Maybe it’s the heavenly original chicken sandwich. Or maybe, it’s the eight-count nuggets meal with fries, Chick-fil-A sauce and

Scene in South Bend: Pure Barre

Cece Biagini | Thursday, September 14, 2017

Eddy Street Common’s newest fitness studio, Pure Barre, offers a low-intensity, low-impact workout that targets all parts of the body. Like most people, I didn’t know what barre was or had ever “done” barre before making a trip to Pure Barre — the “largest, most established barre franchise in the nation.” But I learned in

Over the weekend, your very own Scene editor took a little road trip. As with all good road trips, the selection of fast food and restaurants along the way was delightful and pleasing to the soul, leaving customers begging for more. Thus sparks the question: If you could change the selections available, which restaurants and

Scene in South Bend: Blaze Pizza

Dakota Connell-Ledwon | Wednesday, September 2, 2015

Across the street from the much-beloved Chipotle lies a shiny new Mecca of comfort food. Blaze Pizza opened its doors on Eddy Street in July and made the off-campus dinner debate that much harder. The chain launched in 2012 and has since taken the nation by storm, opening over 70 locations in the past few

This Thursday, Feb. 16, the 93rd annual Bengal Bou This Thursday, Feb. 16, the 93rd annual Bengal Bouts will begin its preliminary rounds. A men’s boxing tournament that benefits the Holy Cross Mission in Bangladesh, Bengal Bouts seems to perfectly combine two integral aspects of Notre Dame’s identity: a passion for sports and a commitment to social impact.

This week, From the Archives takes a long overdue look at the history of Bengal Bouts. While this tournament predates the Observer by nearly four decades, we uncovered a selection of stories that capture at least a part of the rich history of this Notre Dame tradition.

We asked you to Ask The Observer Sports Department We asked you to Ask The Observer Sports Department and you responded with the request: “Northwestern @ Notre Dame 2014 Football Breakdown”. That game was a heartbreaking loss for a Notre Dame team that had started 6-0 before stumbling down the stretch to a 7-5 record. A bowl game win over LSU salvaged some optimism for the program’s future, but that loss to Northwestern was a shocking result that contributed to one of the more appalling stretches of Irish football in the Brian Kelly era.
