Ben Testani | Thursday, March 5, 2020

When this week concludes, I will have a mere one-sixteenth of my time as an undergraduate remaining. The temperature has crept above 40° for consecutive days. The blinds in my house are open to let in precious sunlight. St. Patrick’s Day looms large, as Irish across campus prepare to celebrate the holiday on campus

The 14th floor

Letter to the Editor | Tuesday, November 12, 2019

Hesburgh Library’s march toward silence

Charlie Kenney | Friday, October 4, 2019

In Notre Dame’s Theodore Hesburgh Library, the fishbowl is set aside for loud, collaborative group work, cubicles are expected to be located in areas of serene quiet and, as tour guides love to remind their groups, the higher one goes in the building the more silent each floor becomes. Or, in other words, a certain

The most daring census of Notre Dame

Gabriel Niforatos | Tuesday, October 1, 2019

Insert name, dorm, major. Smile, shake the hand of the person you met in class, in the dining hall or at LaFun during game day and walk away. 10 minutes later, you’ll be scratching your head, completely unsure of who the person you just met was. You’ll desperately scan the bleachers at the football game

Custodian reflects on life, work

Maria Luisa Paul | Thursday, November 8, 2018

Brian Hubbard is not your average Joe. He wakes up before dawn, puts on a pair of blue jeans and a T-shirt — the Notre Dame 2018 Shirt is his favorite — and makes his way to Rockne Memorial to begin a shift that starts at 4 a.m. and ends at noon. He signs in,

Joseph R. Biden has become the second Catholic President in United States history, but his position on abortion is “one that cannot be condoned” according to Rev. Robert Dowd.

“Other bishops think that, because he’s a conscientious Catholic whose faith is obviously important to him, we should strike a more positive tone, particularly at the outset of his presidency. After all, in many ways Biden’s positions are more in line with Catholic teaching than Trump’s, particularly when it comes to migrants, refugees, climate issues, poverty and inequality,” Dowd continued.
