What Though the Odds: Experience and depth give Irish secondary the tools to overcome challenges, reach new heights

Charlotte Edmonds | Friday, September 14, 2018

A legacy, a transfer, a Clemson local and a recruit whose next-best offer finished at No. 8 in the ACC his senior season. You’d never know it looking at the cohesive unit that is the Notre Dame secondary, but they’re an eclectic group that have found their way onto the field in unique ways. Two

Greason: ND must be consistent in its effort and preparation

Elizabeth Greason | Friday, September 14, 2018

A lot of the time while watching Notre Dame sports — football in particular — I want to pull an Edna Mode from “The Incredibles” and yell “Pull yourself together” in very close range of a player, coach or team. Watching the Irish (2-0) play Ball State last weekend took that sentiment to an extreme,

Commodores aim to earn signature win as pieces come together

Tobias Hoonhout | Friday, September 14, 2018

During the tenure of head coach James Franklin, Vanderbilt emerged as a program on the rise. After winning four total games from 2009-2010, the Commodores righted the ship under Franklin, going to a bowl game for three straight seasons and winning nine games in back-to-back seasons for the first time in school history. But with

Notre Dame is one step closer to completing its 2019 class after athlete Kendall Abdur-Rahman announced his commitment on Sunday. Head to head: Vanderbilt

Observer Staff Report | Friday, September 14, 2018

Irish Passing While senior quarterback Brandon Wimbush registered a career-high with 297 passing yards against Ball State, he also threw three interceptions and had trouble consistently sustaining drives through the air. Talent-wise, Notre Dame seems to have the edge in this matchup, as the trio of receivers — sophomore Chase Claypool and seniors Miles Boykin

Staff Predictions: Vanderbilt

Observer Sports Staff | Friday, September 14, 2018

Tobias Hoonhout — Managing Editor There’s no denying the Irish were sleeping this past weekend. And it nearly cost them. While beating Ball State by eight points doesn’t look good on the resume, Notre Dame fans can hope that Brian Kelly will have the team fully awake for Saturday. Unlike the Cardinals, the Commodores have experience

Each day our student journalists, editors, reporters, photographers and designers work hard to report on the things you care about. From tri-campus events to movie reviews, letters to the editor and sports predictions, we give a platform to numerous voices waiting to be heard.

Even throughout the pandemic, our staff has continued publishing articles, letters, columns, reviews and sharing our content with you on social media.

Just recently The Observer won first place in online publication of the year at the Indiana Collegiate Press Association Awards, proving that our hard work and dedication pays off.

As a student-run organization, we juggle the same responsibilities as our peers, while remaining committed to informing the public out of our love for the tri-campus community. This ND Day, we hope that you would consider making a donation to support our student journalists.

Irish head coach Mike Johnson said, “I give our kids credit. I thought we competed hard … It’s not how we wanted it to end of course, but I can’t say enough about our players, about the people that they are, about the sacrifices they’ve made. I just have the greatest love and appreciation for them.”

It made me wonder if they saw the same movie I had watched, where a strong independent woman suddenly meets a man and willingly follows his every order, even though she’s a grade A baddie all on her own.”
