Notre Dame’s streak of five consecutive Final Fours snapped by Stanford in Sweet 16

Benjamin Padanilam | Friday, May 13, 2016

Entering this year’s NCAA tournament, Notre Dame had been to the Final Four in five consecutive seasons. And after another sweep of ACC regular season and tournament titles, a sixth straight trip appeared inevitable for the Irish. Insider: Cable, freshmen provide unexpected boosts for Irish

Benjamin Padanilam | Friday, March 18, 2016

Coming into the season, Notre Dame knew it would be without Jewell Loyd, who skipped her senior season to declare for the WNBA draft. What it did not expect was to lose one of its top recruits, freshman guard Ali Patberg, to a torn ACL prior to the start of the season or to have junior

Irish ‘overachieve’ in championship game run

Greg Hadley | Friday, May 15, 2015

To the casual observer, it was the same old story for Notre Dame this year. Another dominant regular season. Another conference title. Another Final Four berth. And ultimately, another defeat to Connecticut on the biggest stage. But after losing Natalie Achonwa, Kayla McBride and Ariel Braker to graduation and still posting a 36-3 record and 15-1

This Thursday, Feb. 16, the 93rd annual Bengal Bou This Thursday, Feb. 16, the 93rd annual Bengal Bouts will begin its preliminary rounds. A men’s boxing tournament that benefits the Holy Cross Mission in Bangladesh, Bengal Bouts seems to perfectly combine two integral aspects of Notre Dame’s identity: a passion for sports and a commitment to social impact.

That game was a heartbreaking loss for a Notre Dame team that had started 6-0 before stumbling down the stretch to a 7-5 record. A bowl game win over LSU salvaged some optimism for the program’s future, but that loss to Northwestern was a shocking result that contributed to one of the more appalling stretches of Irish football in the Brian Kelly era.
