Despite brutal loss, Irish youth shine bright

Aidan Thomas | Sunday, January 2, 2022

While the 2021 Fiesta Bowl didn’t end the way Notre Dame wanted, there were positives to take away from the volatile performance. The Irish receiving corps has received much scrutiny, and the depth is a major question mark. But on Saturday, the Irish did show that maybe the demise of the receiver room was exaggerated.

A ‘tale of two halves’: Irish drop 21-point lead to Cowboys, fall 37-35

Irish whip Cavaliers in Charlottesville shellacking

Aidan Thomas | Sunday, November 14, 2021

The news got scary for Notre Dame before it got better. With defensive captains Kyle Hamilton, Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa and Drew White not dressed for their clash with Virginia, the Irish defense was severely depleted. Against a Cavaliers offense averaging 39 points a game, that was a major concern. But then UVA quarterback Brennan Armstrong, questionable

We asked you to Ask The Observer Sports Department We asked you to Ask The Observer Sports Department and you responded with the request: “Northwestern @ Notre Dame 2014 Football Breakdown”. That game was a heartbreaking loss for a Notre Dame team that had started 6-0 before stumbling down the stretch to a 7-5 record. A bowl game win over LSU salvaged some optimism for the program’s future, but that loss to Northwestern was a shocking result that contributed to one of the more appalling stretches of Irish football in the Brian Kelly era.
