Mary Green | Friday, January 22, 2016

In the first half of No. 3 Notre Dame’s game against Syracuse on Thursday, Muffet McGraw seemed about as content as Muffet McGraw can be. In the second half, the Irish head coach was quite literally pulling her hair out. Fortunately for the Irish — and McGraw’s locks — their performance in quarters one and two

Balanced offense leads Irish over Volunteers

Mary Green | Tuesday, January 19, 2016

The first 20 times Notre Dame faced Tennessee, the Lady Volunteers came away with a win in each game. But Irish head coach Muffet McGraw said she much prefers to think about the last six times, all of which Notre Dame has won, including a 79-66 victory Monday night at Purcell Pavilion. The No. 3

For its final nonconference game of the year, No. 3 Notre Dame hosts a familiar foe Monday night at Purcell Pavilion. Notre Dame uses strong second quarter to top Boston College

Greg Hadley | Friday, January 15, 2016

It was never too close but never a blowout either, as No. 3 Notre Dame was bogged down in a slow-paced game against Boston College on the road Thursday night but held on for the 63-50 win. The Irish (16-1, 5-0 ACC) never trailed against the Eagles (12-4, 0-3), seizing the lead 49 seconds into

A week after the fact, the Irish were finally able to celebrate head coach Muffet McGraw’s 800th victory Sunday on their home court at Purcell Pavilion. Less than two hours later, McGraw had easily collected win No. 802, as No. 3 Notre Dame rolled to an 88-54 victory over North Carolina. The head coach said

No. 3 Notre Dame hung on to defeat No. 18 DePaul, 95-90, on Wednesday night at Purcell Pavilion, holding off the late-charging Blue Demons after taking a halftime lead of 65-39. DePaul (6-3) started the game playing press defense but abandoned it at halftime when Notre Dame (8-1) made 76.5 percent of its shots from the

The Blue Demons are back, once again catching the Irish fresh off their first loss of the season. No. 3 Notre Dame will play a No. 18 DePaul squad in early December following a loss to archrival Connecticut — for the second year in a row. The Irish (7-1) will even be without sophomore forward Brianna

Green: Injuries hold back Notre Dame against rival UConn

Mary Green | Monday, December 7, 2015

When Notre Dame faced UConn in the national championship game last April, the Irish were confident as ever. They had one of the best players in the country in their starting five — the best player, as several coaches argued during the course of the season — steady confidence and a healthy lineup, something they

Irish set to travel to top-ranked Huskies

Benjamin Padanilam | Friday, December 4, 2015

It’s not too often that a team’s biggest challenge comes in the eighth game of its season, but Saturday’s game on the road against No. 1 Connecticut in the Jimmy V Classic might just be No. 3 Notre Dame’s toughest test this season. Following tight wins over No. 24 UCLA and No. 10 Ohio State earlier

Madison Cable leads Notre Dame in top-10 win

Mary Green | Thursday, December 3, 2015

For their second game in a row, the No. 3 Irish were tasked with putting away an opponent in a down-to-the-wire game. This time, it came against No. 10 Ohio State on Wednesday, with Notre Dame just barely pulling out the 75-72 victory at Purcell Pavilion. However, the challenge was greater Wednesday than it was

Joseph R. Biden has become the second Catholic President in United States history, but his position on abortion is “one that cannot be condoned” according to Rev. Robert Dowd.

“Other bishops think that, because he’s a conscientious Catholic whose faith is obviously important to him, we should strike a more positive tone, particularly at the outset of his presidency. After all, in many ways Biden’s positions are more in line with Catholic teaching than Trump’s, particularly when it comes to migrants, refugees, climate issues, poverty and inequality,” Dowd continued.
